Director, Web Applications
Vibes Interactive, a leading provider of interactive solutions for the resort vacation rental industry is seeking a versatile technology manager with 10+ years experience, who can lead and direct a team in the design, delivery and maintenance of a suite of web-based solutions, working seamlessly with business and technical resources.
The qualified candidate will (1) possess strong written and verbal communication skills, (2) demonstrate a hands-on approach to participate and lead in architecture and software development (3) serve as a senior development resource in order to clearly direct and manage talented off-shore programming resources; (4) apply the appropriate level of “translation” between the business and technical resources; and (5) coordinate with a cross-functional team including online marketing, creative, hardware and software engineering, and other stakeholders in order to ensure that sophisticated web-based technology solutions are delivered on time and within budget to the resort industry.
Established Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) web technology platform, using MySQL/Apache/Tomcat/Java/YUI, requires enhancements and scaled-up production rollout to expanding customer base. The candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and developing complex, web-based applications and related technologies. Uses advanced skill set to architect, develop, test, troubleshoot, and support web-based applications – full project life cycle management.
Project Management responsibilities include developing project plans, driving and documenting the scope, managing risks and issues, ensuring clear communication, and identifying and implementing improvements to the current process and procedures surrounding the release and launch of products. Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, employ Scrum/Agile techniques, and balance the needs of a growing business.
Appropriate candidates will have the following skills, qualifications and experience:

7+ years of development experience

3+ years experience in project management

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Required: Database design/data modeling
- Solid blend of UI and server-side development skills

Hands-on back end web application development using Java and Web Services

Front end systems development to include Javascript, HTML/CSS, DHTML, AJAX

Barracuda presentation layer

Tomcat, Apache, MySQL

YUI (Yahoo User Interface) Library

XML/Web Services
- Experience in development and management of high-traffic web-based eCommerce applications and/or online lead generation will be a strong preference
- Required: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- Advanced Degree is a plus
You must be able to commute daily to Northfield, IL. We are not seeking any outsourcing companies, freelancers or applicants outside of the Chicago area at this time.
